Jim Murphy

Jim Murphy

Our friend Jim Murphy has passed into eternity. His long time friend and bandmate Joe Fili writes:

Jim Murphy was both mentor and musical father to me. When he first hired me to play in The Pine Barons, I could barely play the fiddle. He stuck with me, gave me confidence, helped me get beyond stage fright, and with the patience of a saint, stood by as I developed my playing.

Despite his advanced years, he was taken before his time, and for this and much more, I grieve. However, he lived long enough to enjoy his induction into the Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame, in Missouri Valley, Iowa. We should all be very proud that a talent of this caliber was a fellow New Jerseyan. He will be sorely missed. Thanks for everything, Jim.
